GERRY GALLAGHER for
LEWISVILLE TOWN COUNCIL

PRIORITIES

Commitment to integrity, transparency and fairness in government.

Connections among the pillars of our community - churches, schools, civic organizations, teachers and public safety first responders.

Collaboration with community leaders and citizens.

Continuity of the Lewisville community spirit.

Engagement of citizens from all political affiliations.

Why am I running for Town Council?

I chose to run for office for three reasons: I was asked. I was inspired. I was outraged.

I was first asked to run by a dear friend who has always put community and values above self-interest. Her encouragement reminded me that leadership begins with a willingness to step forward when called.

I was inspired by the words of our distinguished Mayor Horn in the Lewisville Citizen, who urged candidates to step up and “stand for what is right, fair, and honorable for our residents.” His call to action resonated deeply with me and affirmed my belief that our community deserves leaders guided by principle, not politics.

And I was outraged. When a developer, unhappy with Town Council decisions, threatened to sue both the council members and the Town of Lewisville for $8 million, our community was forced into a settlement that cost $1.9 million. This was not only an attack on our town’s financial stability, but also on the integrity of our democratic process.

Why am I qualified?

I stepped forward because I have the experience, skills, and commitment to serve.

I served on the Yonkers Board of Education in New York as a Member, Vice President, and President, representing a district of 25,000 students. In that role, I worked collaboratively with city government and community organizations to solve problems, strengthen schools, and deliver results.

For 27 years, I worked as a school social worker in New York City, standing alongside students, families, and community partners to navigate crises, resolve conflicts, and build stronger communities.

During my internship with the New York City Police Department, I witnessed firsthand the dedication and courage of officers who protect and serve every day. That experience deepened my respect for public servants across all roles.

Twelve years ago, I moved to North Carolina to be close to my daughter and her family. Today, my husband and I are proud grandparents of three — two of whom attend Lewisville Middle School. I am not only a resident, but a stakeholder in the future of our community. I am committed to serving and I will lead with integrity, vision, and an open mind.
